NDIS

National Disability Insurance Scheme

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is Australia’s national program aimed at providing support and funding directly to individuals with disabilities. This program is designed to provide support to eligible individuals with various disabilities, including intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive, and psychosocial disabilities. The NDIS also provides early intervention supports for eligible individuals with disabilities or children with developmental delay.

The main goal of the NDIS is to help people with disabilities get the support they need to improve their skills and independence over time. Funding is allocated based on each person’s unique needs, ensuring that everyone receives the support they require to achieve their goals.

Find out if you’re eligible!

To access funding through NDIS, it’s important to first check your eligibility. To be eligible for the NDIS, you must meet certain criteria, including being an Australian resident, Australian citizen, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa, being under 65 years old, and living in an area where the NDIS is available. Additionally, you must currently require support from people or equipment, or require support that will reduce your needs in the future. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is responsible for determining your eligibility for the NDIS, and more information can be found on their website, including the Access Checklist.

How to apply?

After determining that you are eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), you can apply to the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to begin the planning process. This can be done by calling 1800 800 100.

During the planning process, you will work with an NDIA representative to develop a plan that is tailored to your specific needs and goals. The planning meeting can take place in person or over the phone, and it is an opportunity to discuss the tasks you want to achieve and the goals you want to pursue. Based on your discussions, the NDIA representative will help you determine what services and supports you need, and what funding is available to you.

Once your plan is complete, it will need to be approved by the NDIA. After it has been approved, you will receive your finalised plan, which outlines the supports and services that you can access with your NDIS funding. At Re.Connect Support Services, we are committed to helping you understand and utilise your NDIS plan, so that you can receive the support you need to live a happy and fulfilling life. We have a full list of NDIS Accredited Support Services that you can choose from.

Actioning your plan:

If you need help coordinating the services and supports in your NDIS plan, you may be funded for a Support Coordinator. Support Coordinators are usually funded for people with more complex support needs. If you don’t have a Support Coordinator in your plan, you’ll be appointed a Local Area Coordinator (LAC). LACs can help you understand how to utilise your plan, and they can provide you with ongoing support if needed.

If you or someone you know is eligible for the NDIS, our team of experienced professionals can help you navigate the program and access the support you need to live your life with dignity and independence.
